BCKA Presentation Evening

Well done to everyone who won a merit award at this year's presentation evening.  As usual the evening was well attended and a great event for the whole of the BCKA to get together and celebrate the success and achievement of 2011.

Congratulations to all those who were presented with their black belts and sashes and also to all those who have passed senior and junior gradings.

This year Richard Wooton was awarded with Martial Artist of the Year for his efforts over the year including passing his second degree black sash, fighting in the WKC World Championships and Clash of the Titans and winning the Irish Open.

Jack Bristowe was awarded with Young Martial Artist of the Year for his successes on the tournament circuit including a medal at the Irish Open and winning the World Championships.

Ian Smith and Neil Dalton were awarded Instructor of the Year for working hard for their clubs based in North Lincolnshire.

Alex Barrowman took the Fighter of the Year trophy for his dominance on the fighting circuit winning numerous British titles, two World titles and participating in the Clash.  Kevin Williams received Performance of the Year for his final in the World Championships beating a fighter who had not lost for 18 months.

Thanks to everyone who attended and made it a great night.  Special thanks to all those who helped put the evening together.  There were so many stand out performances and students putting in great amounts of effort over this year that it was a difficult task to narrow down the winners of merits and trophies.  Unfortunately not everyone can win but keep up the effort and may the success continue into 2012.

BCKA’s Youngest Black Belt

Del Oswald from Skegness, Lincolnshire has trained with the BCKA for over seven years and became the youngest student in the BCKA to achieve his black belt at the age of eight. Anyone who has taken the black belt grade can appreciate the dedication and approach to training required to pass this gruelling technical grade which makes Del’s achievement all the more remarkable for someone of his age.

Del Oswald Del Oswald

Del is a talented young man who stood out in class early on. He likes to spar in semi and light contact and is well supported by parents Mick and Lyn. It is fantastic to see students of Del’s age succeeding and achieving in this sport when so many of his age drift in and out of training, it just shows the amount of effort and commitment needed for young people to keep training and reach higher grades and that it can be done.

Since taking his black belt Del has continued training with the BCKA and is now due to take his second degree black belt. All at the BCKA wish him all the best for the future and would love to see him pass his grading in June.
