Martial Arts Career
Profile –
Isabelle, known as Izzy is a young and talented martial artist. She has been training since the age of 8 which equates to nearly 7 years of training and dedication to the BCKA. From the Lincolnshire area, Izzy trains in Louth and Cleethorpes under the guidance of Paul Reed, BCKA Executive.
When asked why she took up martial arts Izzy explained that she saw a demonstration at her primary school, liked the look of what she saw and decided to give it a go. After her first session she was hooked, in her own words “I loved it from the first night.”. Since that first session Izzy has gone on to train at the BCKA in both kung fu and kickboxing, achieving both a black sash and black belt respectively. Although she trains in both she admittedly prefers kung fu and is best known for her talent and diligence in performing the forms and sets. She also teaches kung fu.
Recently Izzy has taken her knowledge and talent for kung fu sets into the competitive arena gaining medals locally and nationally. She has already had much success in this area winning WKC National and British Championships in 2011 and thereby qualifying for 2011’s WKC World Championships to be held in Spain. This will be Izzy’s first international competition which she is looking forward to very much with the ambition to take the world title.
Izzy is an enthusiastic individual who loves kung fu and training with the BCKA. She has gained a lot from taking up martial arts, most notably greater confidence and respect for herself. As a student who has achieved a lot and progressed to senior level Izzy would offer the following advice to newer students as something she has learnt through training, to never say you can’t do something but to keep trying and practising until you can do it. Izzy is a great role model to younger and older students alike with the way she applies herself to her training ensuring she executes all techniques with exact precision and fluidity.
