Son of BCKA Chief Instructor, BCKA England Team Coach and WKC England Team Points Manager Alex Barrowman, Alex Jnr has trained under his father’s guidance from a young age. Although Alex has a lot of respect afforded to him through being the son of BCKA’s Chief Instructor, with his attitude to training, willingness to help, teaching and of course his incredible fighting ability, he has rightfully earned the respect and admiration of his fellow fighters and instructors at the BCKA and wider.
Jack has had an amazing 2011 with the BCKA. Having only started training back in April 2010 Jack has truly had a meteoric rise through the ranks of the BCKA. Starting off in small competitions in the Boston and Peterborough Series tournaments Jack was an eye catching talent with his fearless approach to light contact fighting and surprising strength for a boy his age. Keen to nurture his talent and progress his fighting career Jack began training in Corby with the BCKA England Squad. This led to an inclusion in the squad heading to 2011's Irish Open.
After being part of BCKA's England Squad for some eight years it is fair to say that Jo Redman is a well known and respected member of the BCKA. Jo is widely known for her skill and ability in light contact fighting after dedicating herself to training in this discipline for the last three years. However initially Jo started out as a semi contact fighter only entering competitions in light contact after showing an aptitude for this style of fighting after taking part in a fight night.
Well liked and popular member of the BCKA, Katie Grant has been training with the association for over ten years. In this time she has increased her training so much that she trains virtually everyday and has represented both the BCKA and WKC England Teams. Starting off as a young teenager, Katie began training with her mum at the Rushden and Raunds clubs under Nick Marchant. These days she trains under both Chief Instructor Alex Barrowman in Corby and still with Nick Marchant in Rushden.
Kevin Williams is a fighter who needs no introduction among BCKA ranks. With an international fighting career that spans over a decade, medals and trophies from world championships, national, international and local competitions, as a fighter Kevin is highly respected. After entering his first competition as a blue sash back in 1996 and taking second place there was no looking back for Kev.
Nicola is a nice, shy girl until she steps onto the mat to fight after which she transforms into a ferocious fighting machine. Specialising in semi contact this BCKA and WKC international has amazing ability particularly when it comes to kicking. Nicola is best known for her kicking prowess, using the cannon kick to good effect in many of her fights.
Richie Wooton began training way back in 1994 in kung fu and today trains in Corby under Alex Barrowman. Taking only a two year break back in 1999, Richie has been training for 14 years and still loves it. He takes his training very seriously seeing it as a way to better himself and all his efforts were rewarded in 2007 by achieving the status of black sash.
